LNB recently presented a $25,000 matching grant to the Smith Center for the Arts new capital campaign. The Center Stage Act II Capital Campaign is part of The Smith's larger effort to help revitalize communities in the Finger Lakes through arts enrichment and entertainment.
According to Executive Director of the Smith, Kelly Bradley, the campaign will fund a host of improvements including: an operational kiosk with LED lighting on three sides; completing the facade renovation, including masonry work and painting; lighting the facade; film production upgrades, including a new screen and restoring the classic movie projectors; a stage expansion and many other renovations.
"LNB has long been a firm supporter of the Smith Opera House and in particular of its Art Smart series for the area's school children," said Murray P. Heaton, Smith Opera House Board Chair. "This gift is very gratefully received. It is further evidence of LNB's exceptional reinvestment in the community it serves. We are proud to be partners."
"LNB has long been focused on supporting local communities," said Robert A. Schick, President and Chief Executive Officer of LNB. "We are pleased to make this donation to the Smith Opera House and through this effort, help enrich our communities through arts and education."
The Center hopes to raise a total of $1.5 million in an effort to support upgrades to the Smith Opera House. Please contact Bradley, at 315-781-5483 for further information and to discuss your contribution to the campaign.
The Smith Center for the Arts was formed in November 2008 through a merger of the Finger Lakes Regional Arts Council and Geneva Arts Development Council. In 2009, the Board renamed the organization "The Smith Center for the Arts, Inc.," which is both a presenting organization and a catalyst for enhancing the role of diverse arts in the Finger Lakes.
